The Fiat side of FCA is just varying sizes of 500 and the 124. I did price out a very expensive one while over there.

Isn’t that one only available in Italy or a small number of countries.

That’s going to be Mitsubishi with the Mirage in a few years.

Their german website is still up, but soon enough they will definetely retreat to Italy until they stop production of the platform.

That’s three more Chryslers than they sell in the U.K. and I believe Europe.

We do however get six forms of Fiat 500, one 124, one Punto, one Qubo, one Doblo and three Pandas.

remember how the first of The Great Sergio’s “Five Year Plans” had Lancia and Chrysler-brand vehicles being developed in tandem?

why anyone listens to a word coming out of that guy anymore is beyond me.

I’m sure I read late last year they were only making Lancia in and for Italy to keep the name and production going.

But ye’. The Ypsilon is starting it get a bit long in the tooth by now having been in production since 1995 in it’s current form.

Though to tie in with Chrysler moving away from Europe, the Ypsilon was sold in the U.K. as the Chrysler Ypsilon.

Considering that Nissan now owns a controlling stake in Mitsubishi and they have said they plan to share platforms and jointly develop vehicles with them...I’d say that that is actually looking more unlikely than likely.

Mostly because there’s no way to keep up with the demand so all of their plants will be devoted to making the most neon car on sale in America.

Since Fiat Chrysler combined all their dealerships into multi brand Jeep-Ram-Challenger-Charger-Dart-Viper-Journey-Caravan-Durango-Chrysler-Fiat outlets, Marchionne doesn’t see the need for each brand to offer a complete model line. Or something. I don’t think he knows what his strategy is anymore, besides taking Jeep and Ram’s profits and throwing them at Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati.

I didn’t realize they were still making the Pacifica - I can’t remember the last time I saw one of these, new or old.

Also, isn’t the 200 a sales flop?

If only they could go back to rebadging old Mercedes.

So we’ll be seeing some Rogue/Outlander badge engineering?

Possibly. It could go either way.

Simply rebadged, like how Chevrolet sells a rebadged NV200 as a City Express, or closely related but different on the outside, like the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain.

Hopefully the latter, because I feel Mitsubishi should still have it’s own identity instead of just being rebadged Nissans.

Maybe do something a little different powertrain wise, like offering a slightly modified version of the turbocharged engine in the Juke Nismo RS exclusively in the Outlander.

Or offer the Outlander as the short wheelbase 5 seater only version and the Rogue as the long wheelbase version available as a 5 or 7 seater, like the current one is, while Mitsubishi’s 7 seater is a more sportier take on the larger Pathfinder?

I can see them doing that. Have enough badge engineered offerings to keep the model afloat, rebuild the name, then have enough funding to dump into something exclusive *cough*evo*cough* to their brand.

Agreed.

Here’s how I imagine how it could go:

- Next generation Mirage and Micra/March share a platform and powertrains, but are given unique designs and the Mirage gets an exclusive sedan variant.

- Next generation Versa/Versa Note get new names: Versa gets renamed Pulsar and Versa Note simply becomes Note.

Mitsubishi gets a new Colt based on these model’s underpinnings, but the Colt is given an exclusive powertrain lineup developed by Mitsubishi under Nissan supervision, while Nissan gets to introduce the first modern diesel powered subcompact in the US market in the Pulsar and Note.

- Sentra gets redesigned, spawns a new Lancer, with the Lancer getting an exclusive Sportback variant to compete with Mazda’s 3, while the Sentra gets an exclusive coupe to compete with Honda’s Civic.

Exclusive powertrains are developed for each, eventually leading to Nismo versions of the Sentra and a new Evolution version of the Lancer, including a Lancer Evolution Sportback, the Nissan remains FWD, while the Lancer gets available AWD, a brand new version of S-AWC.

The Sentra also gets to have a diesel version, while the Evolution allows Mitsubishi to have the exclusive hybrid version of this duo.

- Altima gets a redesign, spawns a new Galant. Altima remains to be built in Smyrna, TN, while the Galant is built in Nissan’s facility in Canton, MS.

Mitsubishi gets to reintroduce the Ralliart name with the Galant, followed by Colt and Lancer Ralliart models, using exclusive powertrains and S-AWC, while Nissan gets to offer diesel and hybrid versions of the Altima.

- In another example of platform sharing, the Diamante is revived as a Mitsubishi variant of the Maxima. These two end up being the only non-SUV or sports car platform sharing models that both offer all wheel drive/four wheel drive, but each system is different, Nissan using an updated FWD-based ATTESA system, while Mitsubishi uses S-AWC.

No diesel versions of either, but the Maxima does get a hybrid variant.

- Nissan and Mitsubishi team up with Renault to develop a new line of body-on-frame SUVs and pickups, with Nissan getting a new Frontier and Xterra, Mitsubishi getting a new Pajero/Montero, and Renault getting a second generation Alaskan and a new SUV.

Nissan and Mitsubishi also team up and build a new second facility in Canton for production of trucks and SUVs, while the original plant builds cars and crossovers.

- Nissan also develops a new minivan with Mitsubishi, based on the new Altima/Galant platform, dropping the Quest nameplate and reviving either the Prairie or Axxess nameplates.

Mitsubishi gets their own variant for foreign markets, leaving the US market with just the Nissan version, and the second Nissan exclusive model of the team up.

- Sports car development also ends up a part of this pairing, with Nissan and Mitsubishi teaming up to develop exclusive models for each brands.

First, a smaller RWD coupe to take on Toyota’s 86, reviving the 240SX or Silvia nameplates under the Nissan brand.

A slightly larger RWD coupe/convertible is developed and is the only one shared between both brands, with a new Z car and FTO, using turbo or twin turbo I4 or I6 engines to take on Camaro and Mustang.

An even larger V6 powered coupe/convertible is developed exclusively for Mitsubishi, reviving the GTO and 3000GT nameplates to directly take on the likes of lower spec Corvettes, F-Types, and Lexus RCs.

Finally, a new R36 GT-R, better suited to take on the lower tier supercars like the 488, 650S/675LT, and upper spec 911s.

- The last one sees Mitsubishi getting a more basic version of Nissan’s Titan, only based on the standard versions and not the XD version, more directly targeted at business owners who need a more affordable full size truck with a great warranty and the ability to customize to their needs without a bunch of luxury options. Think of it as Mitsubishi’s take on the RAM 1500 Tradesman.
